Atten-hut!

Well, i have just been dutily informed that my presense is requested at the lunch table.

Apparantly, due to the fact that I am a 22 year old college senior, when I visit home I am subject to the rules and regulations of any minor.

I am visiting the wonderful state of Oklahoma for the duration of the Thanksgiving holiday. While I have nothing major planned for my stay here, I hope that I at least do something worthwhile. We shall see what comes up. And, by the way, TULSA spelled backwards is A SLUT.

Baseball Game

Baseball GameThe baseball game in Indy was fantastic. For a total of five dollars each, we got tickets to the game, all-you-can-eat barbeque, pepsi, and beer. I think you can see where this is going.

Baseball GameWe got to the stadium around 12:30 for the picnic. Adam and I even brought a nalgene bottle, just in case. Our tickets were hosted by IEEE (institute for electrical and electronics engineers) but there were a lot of people at this picnic for different stuff. We didn’t care, we came for the food/beer. At the door, they were giving the first xx number of fans a commemerative lunch pail. Yes, a lunch box. A metal, hinged, handled, lunchbox. We had no idea that this odd gift would turn out to be a gift indeed.

We all started off getting the standard: hamburgers, cheeseburgers, BBQ sandwhiches, hot dogs. Pretty good food. It was a hot hot hot day, so we all decided that an icy cold glass of beer would help keep us cool.

Baseball GameOnce we realized that beer was going to run out and that we couldn’t get any more free beer once the picnic ended, we had to think of a way to get as much as possible. Drinking a lot of it was one option, which we quickly set out to do. But then what would we do once we were in the game? So we filled the Nalgene bottles with beer. That seemed to work, but the day was really really hot, and we weren’t allowed to take beer out of the picnic. So we put them in the lunch pails. They fit almost perfectly if you rotate them. Excellent. But the pails were getting hot. Solution? Ice. Lots of ice. Well, that works for about six beers or so, and there were five of us.

Baseball GameNext solution: If you set the lunchbox upright? You can fit two cups inside of it. If you stack the cups, they wont spill. If you surround them with ice, they will stay cold. Excellent idea. Immediately sprung into action.

The moral of the story, the baseball game was one of the most fun times I’ve had all summer, and its all thanks to our friend, the lunch pail. We even discovered after the game that a sack of 10 Whitecastles fits perfectly into the pail! Of course, the pail is supposed to be used for food, so that makes sense.

Rice and Fireworks

For lunch today, we went to Wendys. My 3/4 pound burger was freaking huge and fell apart on me, and yet I enjoyed every bite. Very tasty.

We saw a rice car in the parking lot. We think its a mazda, but it was yellow and the hood and front left panel were primer color. I guess the guy didn’t have the money to pay for the rest of the paint job. It also had some crazy exhaust pipe action going on, and wings. I hope the car doesn’t take off flying when it reaches top speed of 37 mph. We took some pictures on my phone, maybe we’ll post them to a ricehaters website, like laugh at rice.

When we got back to work, we had a few extra minutes, so we shot some fireworks off in the parking lot. Very entertaining indeed. Fireworks are awesome. I wish we’d have thought of that when we were still at the Wendys… we could have shot them at the rice car.

The weekend

Saturday, Kau and Arjun and I drove to Cincinatti for Rob’s birthday. Everyone was there. There were about 13 of us in total. We went out to dinner at this place in Newport called The Tropicana, and it was very expensive. The food was good, and so was the atmosphere. I had a 14 oz strip steak and potatoes, and Phil and I split this bruschetta. Afterward, a few of us went to this bar across the street at a brewhouse. They had these mugs of beer that held a liter… and everyone was walking around with one. I didn’t get one, but everyone else did and those liters looked amazing. We went back to his house and played some card games for a while until everyone passed out and went to sleep. We had a lot of fun hanging out with the guys we haven’t seen all summer, and it was good times.

We drove back early this morning because Arjun had to leave to go back to Chicago, so we took off at about 8:30 in the morning. When we got back, we went to Whitecastle in Indy. The pool is leaking because a rock broke through the bottom (just as I predicted…), so we hope we can fix it. We shot some fireworks that we got. Fireworks are truly awesome.

I went to the driving range with Kau to hit some balls. That was a lot of fun. Sometime this week, we’re going to try and do a course. That would be fun, I’ve never played golf before.

I took a nap today because I was so tired. Have work tomorrow… going to Chicago on Friday. So very tired…

Long Bike Ride

Today for lunch, Chad, Eric and Scott and I went to Pizza Hut and got the Super Über Pizza Fantastic Meal Especial again. Man, that meal freakin rocks. That brings us up to 4 Jeff Gordon Posters now.

After work today, I went to the bike shop and had them put my new pedals on. Then Brian, Jon and I rode to campus, which is about seven miles or so. It takes about forty minutes or so, which is pretty good time. We took the Heritage Trail through ISU campus and it comes up behind Rose-Hulman, and rode through to the SRC. One of the pedals came off right when I got to campus, so Jon and I took it up to the Super Milage room in Myers and put it back on with a socket wrench. I guess the guy at the bike shop didn’t tighten it all the way.

On the way back, we saw a lot of joggers and bikers, and outran a train that was off in the distance to get across the tracks. Would not have been fun to get stuck behind the train. When we got back to the house, we drove up to Taco Bell for some dinner, and now it is time for sleep… So exhausted. I need to keep working out and getting in shape because my metabolism is definitely slowing down as I get older. I’m not in that same old high school football shape that I used to be!

Super Über Pizza Fantastic Meal Especial

Today for lunch, Eric, Scott and I decided we wanted pizza. The cool pizza place was closed and doesn’t open until 4:00, so instead we went to Pizza Hut. We ordered drinks when we sat down and decided on getting a large pizza, and were trying to figure out what that would cost when I noticed this Super Über Pizza Fantastic Meal Especial. For only 16.99, you get up to 4 fountain drinks, a large pizza, cinnamon sticks, breadsticks, and a Jeff Gordon poster. We figured that for 17 bucks we were just getting the pizza and drinks anyway, might as well go for the gold and get the Jeff Gordon poster, too!

So we ordered the Super Über Pizza Fantastic Meal Especial, and ordered tomato sauce with the breadsticks. Instead of a thing of tomato sauce, she brought out two things of cheese sauce because she figured we’d eat it all… well we wanted tomato sauce! So she brought us out one of those. There were 5 breadsticks and 10 cinnamon sticks, which I guess works out allright for three people, but our pizza had 11 slices. Yes, you heard me. 11 slices. Who cuts pizza with 11 slices? Unless you have 11 people in your group, how the hell are you supposed to divy that up? It didn’t matter because we only ate 10 1/2 of the slices, anyway.

So we get our check, and she asks us if we need anything else, and Eric said “Yeah, we want our Jeff Gordon poster.” She didn’t know what we were talking about, so we got the ad thingy and pointed out the Super Über Pizza Fantastic Meal Especial and the picture of the poster. We were in the middle of deciding how we’d split up the poster when she came back with three of them. Awesome.

The entire meal ended up costing 18 bucks plus tip. I wonder what I’m going to do with the poster? Gotta hang it up in the office or something.

Bike and Run

Yesterday after work, Eric and I went for a bike ride out by the airport. We took the bikes in my truck up to this place where a bunch of mountain bike trails had been made in the woods. It had rained recently, so it was very muddy, but it was still a lot of fun. We got banged up, and I got a huge scratch across my leg from the pedal (which I need to replace, both are broken), and we got muddy as all hell. We rode for about an hour. And yes, I did take my bike off some sweet jumps. We’re lucky we found the car, because we had no idea how to get out. So we just kept riding, and eventually made it back to the cars.

After that, Kau and Jon and I went to the Taco Bell to get some foods. Terre Haute in the summer is definitely much better than Terre Haute during the school year. Definitely. I was tired as hell though, so I went to sleep at 9:30 last night. I fell right asleep, I needed it.

This morning I went running with Ryan. I haven’t run since last year, so I’m way out of shape. Sucks. I wish I could keep up, but I’m just going to have to keep at it and I’ll get better again.
