Random Drivel

This morning, I woke up at 7:30 and called Joe. We drove over to Best Buy to check on the Nintendo Wii situation, and there was a lengthy line. We walked over to Wal-Mart (right next door) and they had already sold out, I guess. I knew the manager at Target, and she told me that they had 150 units, and they had already handed out tickets. We were welcome to wait in line to see if someone leaves or if someone’s credit card gets declined, but that wasn’t real likely. Still, 150 is a heck of a lot more than the 30 they got for the PS3.

We walked back over to Best Buy and decided to wait in that line, since no one knew how many Best Buy had (they were being real secretive about it, probably because they wanted to save some for Thanksgiving. The woman in front of me knows the manager at Best Buy, who had told her they had 160. But later we were hearing from the guy that they only had 100). I ended up being 106th in line after they took names and numbers down, so I wasn’t real optimistic. But apparantly some of the people in line walked off, because I got one of the last ones. There were 6 people behind me, and they all got one as well.

So I got my Wii, and I bought Zelda and a second controller as well. I wanted the component cables, but I’ll get those later. Its an early Christmas!

I just saw a commercial for the Sony Playstation 3, which is funny because its 8pm the day before the PS3 comes out, and anyone who isn’t already in line to buy one isn’t going to get one for a while!

I was driving past Best Buy on the way home from work today, and at 4pm the line was already 30 people full. I heard that each Best Buy is only getting 26 (liberal estimate?), so it sounds like some of those people in line might not even be getting one. So I drove by Target, same story.

The Nintendo Wii comes out on Sunday, I’ll get one of those instead. Or just save my pennies…

I’m loving Heroes. This new show on NBC is actually very good. And it looks fantastic in HD. Its making up for the slack in this season of Lost, which is starting to piss me off. Those “Others” are being unrealistic, and there better be a point to it. These people crash on an island, and the Others have the nerve to screw around with them? Doesn’t make any sense. Jericho is a good show this season, too. and Shark. I should cancel my cable service, because those are the only 4 shows I watch (not including football), and all of them are not only on network TV, but all of them are on free antenna broadcast hi-def.

But anyway, Heroes. Each week gets better and better. The only question I have is what is the deal with the “Save the Cheerleader…” slogan the show has jumped all over? Every commercial I see on TV or hear on the radio has this whispered phrase, and I fail to see why a chick who can’t die needs saving in the first place. But this show is awesome. A show dealing with what kinds of things people would do if they suddenly found out they had these superpowers, and how they would react, is very entertaining.

Right now, I’m paying like 70 bucks for basic cable and internet, and i think would be about $100 if I got the HD DVR box, plus the cable HD channels. Why do they want to steal my money like that? Like I said, I only really watch NBC, ABC and CBS, and I guess Fox for football on Sunday, and the only thing I’m really missing is ESPNHD, but other than that I don’t really watch TV. Wish the MNF games were still on ABC, which wont matter in January.
